some very summery {friday} favorites

The weather here in Minnesota has been flirting with summer. Oh yes, we had those couple days last week where it was 102 -- making us believe it was summer -- and yet, since then, we've been sitting in the mid 70's and have been having our share of clouds.

Summer will come. The whole 6weeks of it that us Minnesotan's might get lucky enough to enjoy -- and in that comes some favorites.

friday favorite things | finding joy

Samuel
{who loves loves loves to play outside}

girls in fishtail braids
{and yes, I got to braid them all}

curly {summery} hair
that happens when you take those braids out

varying weather
{that can cause frizzy and curly hair}

storms that brew after a muggy afternoon

the smell of rain

boy's bikes quickly thrown onto the front porch as the rain approaches

flowers that dot the landscape
including one of my favorites

pansies that hang by my front porch

the contrast in colors

rain on my sidewalk

red freezies that can be eaten outside

that freezie popsicles are only $1.99 a bag

that freezie popsicles are gluten free :)

being able to grill

including our favorites
like
terriyaki {gluten free} chicken
and asparagus
and grilled roma tomatoes

backyards to play in and run

backyards for soccer and baseball and swimming

backyards filled with little tikes plastic toys to play on

an assortment of light sabers for many little boys to play with

until the sun starts to fade
so late in the day

and then I am thankful for those beautiful moments
{and these pictures captured by Hannah}
when the day transforms into night.

Some awesome things to favorite!!! I love the fishtail braids - I do all kinds of braids to my daughter's long hair, too. LOVE IT! I love the raindrops - and would give anything if we could get some right now! Mmmm...and the fresh tomatoes. My hubby's garden doesn't have as many this year as last year, but I'm thankful for those we have!

What fabulous pictures of summer. In AZ we can only have pansies in the winter. Fun to see them. With Joy, Carey!

I would take ANY fresh tomatoes - grilled or no. It is an absolute fave of mine!

Also, I have never heard of those braids before nor know how to do them. Do they take a long time?

Such beautiful moments to tuck away in a Mama's heart. I love them all!

p.s. while I'm thankful for summer too, letting little Granton run to his hearts content OUTSIDE, shirtless and shoeless. I'm also thankful for cool days, which makes summer bearable :-)

Love the castle!
