strings, food, a vlog, and photos. on friday.

these are a few of my favorite things
{you know, the little things that bring joy}
that I've discovered this week

friday favorite things | finding joy

freckles
growing up with my own face of freckles
{which my grandma called sunkisses}
I love to look at my Caleb's sunkissed face of freckles outside in the winter sun.
So cute. And so so so sunkissed.

inspirational words
scattered throughout my home
this one I purchased
seven years ago
and have loved that the words
have graced my walls since.

guitar
I've got two boys whose fingers
can't wait to play the guitar.
Lessons will be coming. Soon.
As will new guitar strings.

yellow
the color
I'm printing out these free printables from
my friend Lauren at
Mama's Learning Corner
 all about yellow
to go along with my bananas and jumbo sized grapefruit

reader
my Brennan has turned into quite the reader
I captured him reading away
on a sunny Thursday afternoon

perspective
took this picture
while I was on the kitchen floor
yes
yes, the floor
I just wanted a change in perspective, you know?

cravings
my sweet friend
Carey from Cravings
sent me this delightful
{and oh so cute}
holder with daily verses and reminders of God's faithfulness
{post will be coming soon...}

feeding america
while at blissdom
I learned that too many kids in the US are going hungry.
Con Agra foods partnered with Feeding America
to get food to those who need it
one code entered from each product = one meal for a child in need
That is amazing. Take time to enter those codes!

my video
{you'll get to hear Minnesota me...finally}
I shot a video for feeding america
{i didn't know the questions beforehand...so forgive the ums and blank stares}
{and shhhh...I'm going to start to vlog more...}
{and...shhh...I was rather sleep deprived...so ignore the tired look and messy hair}
talking about how I can help bring awareness to end hunger
and friends, talking about it? that BRINGS awareness
and one less child going hungry? That is worth fighting for.

black and white
ending with these
Samuel shots
 from the week
simple
beautiful

It's so encouraging when a slow reader suddenly takes off -- our 6yo is doing that right now too! I'm convinced the best thing to do is just keep doing read-alouds with them and they'll get it eventually!

Have a great Friday!

No child should have to be hungry, it is so tragic.

Those photos of Samuel are sweet, and I loved hearing your voice. :)

You did great on your video! Fun to hear your voice. Your story about the woman who you thought had it all together- great story, because there are a LOT of those cases and you just never know who's in trouble. The number of "middle class" families going hungry is growing.

Ah the sweet sound of a Minnesooota accent :) I dont get to hear it enough any more! Do you know of a list of Con Agra products with the Feeding America codes on them? I looked around the FA website, but didn't see one...I will keep looking. In the summer our church has a gleaning program that picks up extra produce at local farmers markets (that just gets tossed in to a dumpster if no one picks it up!) and distributes it to shelters and families in need in the community. We are always looking for new opportunities to help - and just entering a code! How much easier could it be :) Happy Friday!

You don't have an accent to me :o

I have to look into this charity, wow, and no one's got it "all" together, not one. And there is not such thing. . .

I love your special-ness from this week, and you are right with those last two pics, precious.

love these posts! i've got to remember to link up! have a wonderful weekend friend!

What a cute accent you have! Reminds me of my husband's extended family--Swedes who live in Bemidji, Minn. :)

I love that your little boys are excited about music. I am a piano teacher and just melt at the sight of true passion. :) I wish I could hear you play!
