prayers for Replenish

Today is the day that I am speaking for the Replenish Your Soul Marriage Conference. I'm speaking on living in times of sickness -- Finding Joy in the Wilderness of Sickness -- and sharing a bit of my testimony, my story. You see, my story really isn't about me, it's about Jesus. It's about how He has worked in my life to help redeem those times in the wilderness.  I don't have this 1-2-3 step program for getting out of the wilderness, but what I can share is of the power of Jesus walking by one's side in the wilderness.

So my friends, I come to you this Wednesday morning asking for your prayers covering this conference and my words. Let them not be about bringing glory to my name -- let them be a light in a world that can be hard and lonely. Let the things that have hurt me deeply  be used by our King to give hope to other sisters in Christ. That's my prayer. Would you join me in praying?

You know I've joked about my Minnesotan accent for so long -- doncha know -- and I know you all are just itching to hear that North Woods accent that I'm blessed with. Well, now there's an opportunity for you to actually hear that voice of mine. It's really not that bad. I just like to elongate those vowels, ya know.

It's an awesome event. I'm speaking at the Replenish Your Soul Marriage Conference which is being put together by At the Well - In Pursuit of Titus 2. I'm leading a session titled Joy Comes in the Mourning. It's the part of the seminar directed at the lines in the marriage vows that talk about sickness and in health. Well, you got it, I'll be talking a bit about marriage when things, like health, don't go as planned.

Even in those times of sickness there can be joy.

But, it's a process that one simply must go through -- there really aren't short-cuts. I'll be sharing how the Lord has led me through those valley times of sickness, once with my husband being diagnosed with cancer, Samuel with his Celiac Disease, and even me with my shoulder. Those moments in life could have driven me under or our marriage to the brinks, and yet, despite those health hardships the Lord has shown me that there is joy.

Sweet joy.

And you can pray about that for me -- I've done speaking in front of live audiences, but this technology part has me a bit nervous. I can't see faces, you know? It always helps to scan the audience and find that face that's smiling and encouraging me on.
